OUR NATURAL MENTAL INCLINATION IS HOSTILE TOWARDS GOD

PART 1:   OUR NATURAL INCLINATION IS HOSTILITY TOWARDS GOD:

  • Because the carnal [fleshly] mind [mental inclination or purpose] is enmity [hostility/a reason for opposition] against [to or into] God; for it is not subject [subordinated/obedient] to the law of God, nor indeed can be. 8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.   Rom. 8:7-8
  • And even as they did not like to retain [hold] God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased [unapproved, that is, rejected; by implication worthless] mind, to do those things which are not fitting;    Rom. 1:28.
  • For if when we were enemies [hateful] we were reconciled [changed mutually] to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled [mutually changed], we shall be saved by His life.    Rom. 5:10.

PART 2:       Jesus was speaking to His learners [actual Greek word, misleading “religious word” = disciples] over 2000 years ago. We are all learners of the Anointed Jesus. It is not unusual to be hated for speaking about God’s Word:

  • His disciples [learners] said to Him, “See, now You are speaking plainly, and using no figure of speech!   John 16:29
  • I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 

         John 17:14

PART 3:   No human being is claiming to be, “a Samuel”, but it’s the principle of the story that we need to pay attention to:

But the thing displeased Samuel when they said, “Give us a king to judge us.” So Samuel prayed to the Lord [Self Existent]. 7 And the Lord [Self Existent] said to Samuel, “Heed the voice of the people in all that they say to you; for they have not rejected [spurned] you, but they have rejected [spurned] Me, that I should not reign over them.

Spurn (definition):   to reject with distain or contempt.

When people criticize, or reject you, because of your belief in God’s Word, while hurtful, they are not rejecting you, but they are rejecting their Creator, and His Word.

PERSEVERE IN THE ORIGINAL, TRUE, DELEGATES’ INSTRUCTION (THROUGH THEIR WRITTEN WORD, IN THE NT):

And they continued steadfastly [were earnest towards/persevered] in the apostles’ [delegates’] doctrine [instruction] and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.       Acts 2:42

CRITERIA OF A TRUE DELEGATE (APOSTLE).

  • Directly means directly. No pastors, nor incorporated, so-called, “Christian” churches (currently approximately 45,000 denominations around the world). Absolutely no human being between you and your Creator.
  • Jesus, our Supreme Authority, is the Word:
  • The good message of John, chapter 1:
  • 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
  • Verse 14:   14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

  • The actual Greek is in square brackets [red].
  • The actual Greek word is “delegate”, which is much more accurate than the “religious” word “apostle”. A delegate is sent out to represent others. These men were sent out to represent Jesus, the Anointed (Anointed to be King). They did a remarkable job.

  • Definition:   Delegate:   a person sent or authorized to represent others.

  • Today’s topic:

CRITERIA OF A TRUE DELEGATE (APOSTLE):

  1. THEY HAD TO HAVE SEEN THE ANOINTED JESUS.
  2. THEY HAD TO PERFORM SIGNS, WONDERS, AND MIRACLES.
  3. THEY WERE FOUNDATIONAL TO JESUS’ CHURCH.
  1. They had to have seen Jesus, eyeball-to-eyeball:
  • Am I not an apostle [delegate]? Am I not free? Have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? Are you not my work in the Lord?   

1 Cor. 9:1.

  • and that He was seen by Cephas [the Rock, Peter], then by the twelve. 6 After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren [brothers] at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep. 7 After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles [delegates]. 8 Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time.   

1 Cor. 15:5-8

  1. They had to perform signs, wonders, and miracles:
  • Truly the signs of an apostle [delegate] were accomplished among you with all perseverance, in signs and wonders and mighty deeds.   2 Cor. 12:12.
  • Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles [delegates].   Acts 2:43
  • 12 And through the hands of the apostles [delegates] many signs and wonders were done among the people. And they were all with one accord in Solomon’s Porch.    Acts 5:12
  1.   They were foundational to the Anointed’s Church:
  • Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints [sacreds] and members of the household of God, 20 having been [note the past tense used over two thousand years ago] built on the foundation of the apostles [delegates] and prophets, Jesus Christ [Anointed] Himself being the chief cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord [Supreme Authority], 22 in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.   Eph. 2:19-22

THE FOUNDATION WAS ALREADY LAID OVER 2000 YEARS AGO.

So, the criteria, for a true delegate, were, and are:

  1. THEY HAD TO HAVE SEEN THE ANOINTED (CHRIST).
  2. THEY PERFORMED SIGNS, WONDERS, AND MIRACLES.
  3. THEY WERE FOUNDATIONAL TO CHRIST’S CHURCH.

Several people today claim to be delegates (apostles) of Jesus Christ. The scriptures show them to be false.

There is even a so-called “Christian” [very large] denomination that has 12 “apostles” at its head. To be a little more self-righteous than the rest of us, they even have a few that are retired (for a total exceeding 12)!

A lot of these topics cross over each other. The delegate, John, in his letter, mentions antichrist only four times. He had many antichrists in his day, as we have many around us today.

Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists [opponents of the Messiah] have come, by which we know that it is the last hour.            

1 John 2:18.

This so-called [very large] “Christian” denomination is clearly in opposition to God’s Word (Jesus Christ), and therefore antichrist.

“I know your works, your labor, your patience, and that you cannot bear those who are evil [worthless]. And you have tested those who say they are apostles [delegates] and are not, and have found them liars [untrue]; 3 and you have persevered and have patience, and have labored for My name’s sake and have not become weary.   Rev. 2:2-3

If you want to read more about spurious delegates (apostles), read Paul’s [Jesus’ “chosen instrument”, Acts 9:15] writings in the entire 11th chapter of 2 Corinthians. It is suggested that you read it several times.

Definition:    Spurious:   not being what it purports to be; false or fake.
