TRIBULATION/PRESSURE

 

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world [orderly arrangement, that is, decoration; by implication the world] you will have tribulation [pressure (literally or figuratively)]; but be of good cheer, I have overcome [subdued (literally or figuratively)] the world [orderly arrangement, that is, decoration; by implication the world] .”

John 16:33

 

strengthening the souls [breaths, that is, (by implication) spirits] of the disciples [learners], exhorting [calling near, that is, inviting, invoking (by imploration, hortation or consolation)] them to continue in the faith, and saying, “We must through many tribulations [pressures (literally or figuratively)] enter the kingdom of God.”

Acts 14:22



Great is my boldness of speech toward you, great is my boasting on your behalf. I am filled with comfort. I am exceedingly joyful in all our tribulation [pressure (literally or figuratively)].

And they continued steadfastly [earnest towards/persevered] in the apostles’ [delegates’] doctrine [instruction] and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.      Acts 2:42
